ASU HDSHC Invitational
Fri—Sun, January 10th—12th (1/10—1/12)
The third national circuit tournament of our season and the first of Semester 2 will take place at the Arizona State University HDSHC Invitational in Tempe, Arizona.
This is a great opportunity for students who have gained experience on the team and who are interested in pursuing more national circuit competition. It is one of four total pre-season national circuit tournaments available this year and is the only one of those open to students in their first year of competition or who are newer to the team.
ASU is a mainstay tournament of the Southwest region and has been well-attended by our team for years. Pre-pandemic it offered medium-to-large field entries but with solid competitive rigor, and mostly West Coast draw in entry and judging pools.
It is a UKTOC bid tournament for both Speech and Debate events.
Please note that registration fees and costs are higher for national circuit competitions, and may include higher registration fees, multi-night hotel rooms, rental cars, and occasionally, hired judging fees. Pending our entries, we currently plan to take a bus alongside other NM teams, or, fly to Phoenix. The school will pay for $250 of the total cost of the tournament, with additional costs billed to families in proportion to their Tuition Assistance. See Student Billing for more information.
Specific event information, schedule, and the tournament invitation are available via the Tabroom.com link:
Applications for Registration are due no later than Wednesday, 11/13 at 7pm.
Only students with prior competitive history on the team are eligible for consideration, and entries will be limited. However, anyone in grades 9–12 who is interested is encouraged to apply!
