State & District Congress 2025
Saturday, February 15th (2/15)
The first of our end-of-season championships begins with the NM State Congress Championship & District National Qualifier hosted at the Embassy Suites in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Students compete exclusively in Congressional Debate at this tournament in either the House or the Senate.
Those who are interested in submitting legislation to this tournament must do so by Friday, 1/31 at midnight (this is a hard deadline!)
NOTE: This tournament functions as BOTH the State Championship and the District National Qualifier for Congressional Debate.
Students who are very interested in attending Nationals this summer should prioritize registering for this tournament!
Legislation, schedule, and additional tournament information available via the Tabroom.com links:
NM District Congress
Registration is due no later than Wednesday, 1/29 at 4:00pm.
NOTE: To compete, you must be eligible for Districts and have received 25 NSDA pts. Log in to your profile on speechanddebate.org and check if you are unsure!
NOTE: YOU MUST have competed at least once already (in any event) this season in order to compete at this tournament.
If this is a problem for you, reach out to Ms. Matton to explain your situation and plan to compete in at least one Springboard Scrimmage prior to the tournament.
Schedule Considerations
No school will be missed — tournament is entirely on Saturday (and Monday is Presidents’ Day with no classes)
Tournament conflicts with the Harvard national circuit tournament
Entry Rules and Considerations
Only students in grades 9 through 12 are eligible to compete at District Congress
Students must have earned at least 25 NSDA Honor Society points and have received the seal of “Merit” in order to be eligible
