Isidore Newman Invitational 2024

Fri–Sun, December 13th–15th (12/13–12/15)

The second national circuit tournament of our season and the last of Semester 1 will take place at the Isidore Newman School Invitational in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This is a great opportunity for experienced members of the team who would like to pursue in-person national circuit competition and is one of four total pre-season national circuit tournaments available this year. Newman is a fast-growing tournament with fierce Speech competition and smaller (though still rigorous) fields in Debate. It is a UKTOC bid tournament for both Speech and Debate events.

Please note that registration fees and costs are higher for national circuit competitions, and may include registration fees, multi-night hotel rooms, rental cars, and occasionally, hired judging fees. The school will pay for $250 of the total cost of the tournament, with additional costs billed to families in proportion to their Tuition Assistance. See Student Billing for more information.

Specific event information, schedule, and the tournament invitation are available via the Tabroom.com link:

Applications for Registration are due no later than Wednesday, 10/23 at 5:00pm.

Only students with previous competitive history on the team are eligible for consideration, and entries will be limited. However, anyone who is interested is encouraged to apply!

Schedule Considerations

  • Travel itinerary will depend on exact entries, but students should anticipate missing class on Friday, December 13th (Day 3 — B, C, D, and A classes)

  • The tournament conflicts with an ACT test date (there are other dates throughout the year, however).

  • The tournament falls back-to-back with the Eldorado tournament the weekend before. There are no other back-to-back weekends planned for Semester 1 however, and no tournaments the 2 weekends before this.

  • The tournament conflicts with the Student One-Acts (theater performance).
