State & District Congress 2023 Results

The team kicked off our end-of-season tournaments on Saturday, 2/11 at the State and District Congress tournament hosted at the Pyramid Marriott.

The tournament served as the Novice State Championship in Congressional debate for the novice chambers, whereas the top-performing members in the Varsity Chambers (House and Senate) were recognized as both State Champions AND District Qualifiers to the NSDA National Championship in June! AA was able to seat up to two students in the Senate and up to seven in the House as a mark of our NSDA District Strength this year.

Congress

3rd place in the House — Leo Crowley (Qualified to Nationals!)

Finalist in the House — Ayla Zomermaand (first time doing Congress!)

Finalist in the House — Becca Faber (elected Presiding Officer!)

We are excited to compete at the State Championship in Speech & Debate hosted at UNM on February 24th-25th, and to complete rest of the District National Qualifiers hosted by AA on March 17th-18th!
